Project backgroundThe ETH AI Center is at the heart of Switzerland's rapidly growing AI ecosystem. Our flagship event, the AI+X Summit, has quickly become one of the country's largest and most dynamic gatherings for AI research, industry, and policy. In 2025, we co-launched the Zurich AI Festival together with the Greater Zurich Area, adding a new public-facing dimension to our outreach. We are also co-initiators and core stakeholders of AI House Davos, a high-level platform for global dialogue on trustworthy AI during the World Economic Forum.
To support and scale these activities, we are looking for a Web Applications & Automation Specialist to manage the digital infrastructure behind our events - from smooth registration flows to sleek and functional event websites. Your work will help shape the user experience for thousands of participants and partners, and ensure our events run with both precision and impact.
Job descriptionAs a Web Applications & Automation Specialist, you will
take the lead in building and maintaining the ETH AI Center's digital infrastructure for events. Your core responsibilities include setting up and managing event webpages and apps, managing registration systems, and developing automation workflows that streamline operations, ensuring that our flagship events run smoothly. You'll work closely with the Event Manager and Communications team to ensure that our public-facing content is clean, functional, and on-brand. This role requires technical expertise, a sharp eye for design, and a hands-on mindset.
ProfileWe are looking for a tech-savvy problem solver with a sharp eye for design, usability and user experience - someone who enjoys building elegant, scalable solutions to power outstanding events and digital outreach.
Requirements - A university degree, ideally with exposure to AI topics or international affairs
- Professional fluency in English; German is an asset
- Strong experience with building web applications, form builders, and automation tools (e.g. AEM, Make.com, Google Developer Console, Typeform, Inxmail, Mailchimp, Zapier, Wix Velo)
- Proficiency in JavaScript and working knowledge of APIs, including webhook-based data transfer and third-party service integrations
- Skilled in structuring and querying databases, maintianing clean data schemas, and troubleshooting sync errors
- Confident working with analytics dashboards, tracking tools, and reporting key metrics (Google Analytics, basic SEO, UTM tagging)
- Comfortable with custom code integrations or working alongside developers to deliver smooth and secure workflows
- Hands-on experience managing event websites and online registration pipelines, ideally in high-profile or multi-stakeholder environments
- Solid understanding of user experience, digital design, and accessibility standards
- Ability to collaborate closely with marketing, events, and communications teams, aligning digital infrastructure with strategic goals
- Bonus: Familiarity with data privacy practices (GDPR compliance), experience with CRM integrations, or managing waitlists, ticketing, and participant communication
