Data Scientist m/f/d, Basel-Stadt Our client is seeking a skilled and proactive
Temporary R&D Data Scientist to join their innovative team.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and leveraging our unique data integration platform, supporting ongoing AI model development, and ensuring the seamless continuation of R&D data workflows. This is a hands-on position for a data scientist who can quickly onboard complex systems, contribute immediately, and ensure operational continuity within a high-impact research environment.
Tasks & Responsibilities: - Maintain Data Integration Tools
Manage, monitor, and troubleshoot existing data integration pipelines feeding AI models, ensuring high data quality, reliability, and availability. - Support AI Development
Collaborate with R&D scientists to support training, validation, and optimization of machine learning and AI models. - Data Analysis & Reporting
Perform in-depth data analysis to extract actionable insights, answer research questions, and communicate findings through structured reports and visualizations. - Troubleshoot & Problem-Solve
Identify and resolve technical issues related to data access, software constraints, infrastructure, and model performance. - Ensure Project Continuity
Work closely with the team to maintain timelines and deliverables throughout the contract period, ensuring uninterrupted R&D operations. - Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
Maintain clear documentation of workflows, system modifications, and best practices to ensure transparency and continuity.
Must-Have Qualifications: - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
- 3-5+ years of hands-on experience in data science or data analytics roles
- Strong proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn)
- Solid experience with SQL and relational databases
- Practical experience with ETL principles and data pipeline management
- Foundational understanding of machine learning models and workflows
- Experience with image analysis techniques
- Familiarity with FAIR data principles
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in a small team environment
- Strong communication and documentation skills
