Research Scientist m/w/d,The Resistance Research Team at Syngenta in Stein is seeking a dedicated and accountable
Research Scientist to design, coordinate, and deliver global monitoring programs and analyses aimed at understanding the evolution of fungicide resistance in plant-pathogenic fungi. This role involves hands-on laboratory and molecular work, bioassays, sequencing data analysis, and significant logistical coordination for sampling programs worldwide. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment, values reproducibility and quality, and is eager to contribute to innovations in resistance monitoring and management.
Key Responsibilities - Design, implement, and conduct global monitoring programs for plant-pathogenic fungi, including Zymoseptoria tritici , Botrytis cinerea , Plasmopara viticola , Phytophthora infestans , and Alternaria spp.
- Manage logistics for incoming and outgoing biological samples, including global coordination of sampling campaigns.
- Conduct bioassays (in vitro/in vivo) and molecular analyses, including DNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, sequencing, and related methods.
- Maintain, propagate, and isolate fungal cultures in sterile conditions, ensuring high-quality and reproducible results.
- Analyze and interpret bioassay and sequencing data using tools such as R, Geneious, Spotfire, or equivalent software.
