Do you think about storage beyond capacity and performance-focusing on availability, integrity, and resilience?
Do you want to ensure that mission-critical data is secure, accessible, and recoverable at all times-even in worst-case scenarios?
Then this is your opportunity to make a real impact with your expertise.
Job description As an experienced Storage Engineer, you take ownership of the stable, secure, and sustainable operation of critical storage services. You independently plan, prioritize, and implement complex tasks while actively shaping and evolving our storage landscape.
You design and refine BCM-related storage processes and solutions to ensure availability, recoverability, and organizational resilience. With a strong awareness of risks, you actively work to eliminate single points of failure in critical services.
In the area of long-term storage, you operate and continuously develop solutions on high-latency media. You ensure data integrity, long-term availability, and well-structured operational processes, supported by clear and thorough documentation.
At the same time, you manage and optimize our SAN infrastructure. You collaborate closely with neighboring infrastructure and service teams, contributing to incident, change, and lifecycle processes, and ensuring the reliability and performance of the overall IT environment.
Profile You bring solid hands-on experience, deep technical expertise, and a structured, responsible approach:
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a comparable field-or equivalent professional experience
- Several years of experience operating critical IT infrastructures (Enterprise Storage, SAN, Long-Term Storage, Archiving, BCM)
- Strong expertise in Enterprise Storage and Tape Storage
- Advanced knowledge of SAN, Business Continuity Management, and Disaster Recovery
- Experience with Linux (RHEL) and strong Bash scripting skills
- Know-how in automation/scripting and structured operation of complex services
- Experience with lifecycle and IT service management processes
- Good German and advanced English skills
What Sets You Apart In line with ETH social and leadership competencies, you go beyond technical expertise:
- You take full ownership of critical services and act reliably-even under pressure
- You think analytically and systemically, delivering sustainable, long-term solutions
- You work in a structured way, prioritize effectively, and maintain high-quality documentation
- You communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
- You continuously seek improvements and bring a strong service mindset
